‘Like DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES meets KILLING EVE’
It starts as a game at a book group one night. Never Have I Ever… done something I shouldn’t.
But Amy Whey has done something she shouldn’t. And Roux, the glamorous newcomer to Amy’s suburban neighbourhood, knows exactly what that is.
Roux promises she will go away. She will take herself and her son, who is already growing dangerously close to Amy’s teenage stepdaughter, and she will go. If Amy plays by her rules.
But Amy isn’t prepared to lose everything she’s built. She’s going to fight back, and in this escalating game of cat and mouse, there can be only one winner.
Review
Thank you so much to Bloomsbury Australia, for providing me with a copy of Never Have I Ever!
Amy and her friends are just settling in to their regular book club meeting – neighbourhood friends, a couple of glasses of wine and chatting about a book they may, or may not have finished. But their regular night is turned inside out when Roux, the exotic, interesting tenant who’s moved into the house down the street, turns up. She wants to play a game, a special game of Never Have I Ever. She assures everyone it’s just for fun, but Amy can’t talk about the worst thing she’s ever done, she can’t even talk about the second worst thing.
Her hopes that Roux will just forget about the silly game in the morning are quickly dashed when she turns up with an ultimatum – she knows exactly what Amy’s worst sin is, and she’ll tell everyone she loves unless she gives Roux what she wants.
Amy loves her quiet life with her husband, step daughter and new baby. Even she is not sure just how far she will go to keep the life she’s worked so hard to build. Never Have I Ever was a tense and suspenseful book with a fantastic amount of twists and turns I never saw coming. Every time I thought I had it all figured out, another surprise came hurtling at me. I really enjoyed the way there were a bunch of shocking reveals along the way, not just one big one at the end. It kept me glued to the pages!
I can’t say too much more without giving away all those gasp worthy surprises you need to experience on your own, so I’ll just say, if you love domestic thrillers, cat and mouse type games with plenty of twists and turns, definitely add this one to your TBR!
