Bluey follows the adventures of a loveable, inexhaustible six-year old Blue Heeler dog who loves to play and turn everyday life into extraordinary adventures.

Just in time for summer what could be better than a quintessential Australian adventure like The Beach? And for bedtime reading, Fruit Bat, is the perfect story for both children and adults to enjoy. These two board books are based on popular Bluey episodes and use the narrative format to highlight and explore key moments from the show. The lift-the-flap and glow-in-the-dark embellishments for The Beach and Fruit Bat respectively are employed in places where they enhance the storytelling and help capture the humour and energy of the TV show.

And as any fan knows, Bluey is all about imaginative play so the sticker activity book will be a place where fans of various ages can unleash their own imagination and creativity on the page.

Review

Thank you so much to Penguin Random House Australia for providing me with a copy of these book in exchange for an honest review!

If you’re Australian and you haven’t jumped on the Bluey bandwagon, what are you doing with your life?  Bluey follows the every day life of a family of blue heelers, playing games and learning life lessons (while giving us parents something to aspire to, and ideas for fun games to play with the kids!).  With all the Australian jokes we grew up with, without being overly stereotypical, Bluey manages to achieve that rare magic where the show is enjoyed just as much by kids as the adults.

Our whole family couldn’t have been more excited when we discovered Bluey books were being released (the first merchandise for the show), and they did not disappoint!  These first books are based on two of the episodes – The Beach and Fruit Bat.  The Beach has fun lift the flap sections and Fruit Bat has glow in the dark stars and embellishments along the way.  Both books keep the feel and storyline of the episodes, without being too long.  They will have pride of place on the bookshelf for a long time!

The sticker book is absolutely fantastic.  With stickers to recreate scenes from many of the episodes, colouring pages and other activities, there’s something for kids of all ages (and let’s be honest, I had to hold back from recreating the scenes myself.  I may need a second sticker book for me 😂 )

Now that the Bluey show has started rolling out to other countries around the world (with the Aussie accent intact! 🙌) I hope everyone will be able to enjoy our amazing cartoon and matching books!
