It’s been three months since Thomas and his friends faced off against the enigmatic Arius Strong in an epic fight for the future of humanity. They thought the battle was over. It was only just beginning.

Now, with a mysterious message from an unknown hacker, the action starts again. This time an ancient talisman with legendary powers is at stake, and Arius will stop at nothing to make it his own. Dark witches and wizards are rallying to his cause, and behind it all, a mysterious figure with inexplicable abilities. The forces of light are gathering as well, but the web of deception is thick. Will Thomas and his friends see through the lies in time to stop the forces of evil and prevent a catastrophe of historic proportions?

Review

Thankyou to Book Publicity Services for providing me with a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

Thomas Wildus and the Wizard of Sumeria is book 2 in the Elandrian Series, so my review may contain spoilers for book 1, Thomas Wildus and the Book of Sorrows

Thomas and his friend Enrique are having fun using the magic skills they honed at the end of book one, hanging out with girls, and generally enjoying the summer off from school, when they discover the battle with Arius is far from over.  Pulled back into a hunt for another ancient artefact, they enter into a race to find it before Arius can get his hands on it.

The Wizard of Sumeria felt a lot more grown up than The Book of Sorrows.  It was still a middle grade story, but the characters were better developed and the writing had really come up a notch too.  With most of the world building out of the way in the first book, we were able to just get on with the action here.  I also LOVED the addition of some of the new characters – especially the werewolves! This was a fast paced and fun read that had me really looking forward to the next book.  The magic system in this series is quite unique and I felt like we got to experience so much more of it this time around.

There’s a major plot twist towards the end that was done very well.  I didn’t see it coming at all and I think it’s set things up for an explosive story in the next book!
